What started as a way to update friends and family of our adoption process has bloomed into a snapshot of our lives as a family of five. We have been blessed through our adoption journey and hope our story of Will growing into our family leads you on your own adoption journey or at least plants a seed....

For your viewing pleasure...............
Here's our little man having a good ol time climbing a tree. He literally swings from branch to branch and is so coordinated with all his tree climbing maneuvers. He even looks cute upside-down don't you think?

tree climbers
Will is a tree climber. So is Jaymie. If I can't find Jaymie out in the yard, all I have to do is look up in a couple of our trees and I'm bound to find her. Well, the other day I was watching Jaymie do her back handsprings on the trampoline and I was standing next to the tree Will was hanging out in. He usually doesn't climb too high, but as I was distracted by Jaymie I look up to check on Will and that little monkey had climbed up the tree very close to the top. I couldn't even look at him he was so high.. I wasn't sure if he would make it down safely so I summoned Jaymie to race up the tree to guide Will down to safety. Will has no fear and I need to keep that in my head always as he grows so quickly. He will jump from tree limbs to the ground like nothing, no matter how high the lowest branch is. And to keep shoes on this boy when the weather is nice is also a challenge. I wonder how long it will be before I experience a broken bone with him?

sleeping arrangements
For the first year that Will was home he was my little snuggle bug and was consistent with sleeping with Jeffrey and I every night. I loved every minute of sleeping next to him, watching him breathe, stroking his hair and overall just bonding with this little guy that we were so blessed with. Well, now our little man thinks he is hot stuff and shares the love with his sisters. He sleeps with them now and thinks it is so funny when I pretend cry that he is not with me. He does get several books read to him by me in my bed and then he scoots off to the sister of choice for the night. They always welcome him with open arms and I know he always goes to bed feeling so secure. It makes my heart happy!

Jacklyn's late mothers day letter to Will's birthmother
To the birthmother of Willl Jeffrey Googins:
By Jacklyn Googins....Will's sister
I don't know you...
I don't know your story...
I dont know anything about you...
But I do know that without you...I can't imagine what my life would be like.
What my life would be like without your son.
The son you had to let go of...
and whom have we have come to love.
I don't know you....
but I understand the choice you made,
the choice you made to give up your son in hopes of giving him a better life.
I don't know your story....
But I know that you've changed the lives of a family.
I don't know anything about you...
But I'm thankful for you.
For giving birth to the one I call my brother. And the one I call a blessing.
For the one you wish could be a part of your life...but can't
Your son is loved though,...by a family who cares...deeply...and a family who wishes you could be here for him too.
So we thank you this Mother's Day, you were not forgotten.

Jacklyn's tennis win!
This past weekend Jacklyn played her last 12 and under open tournament at our tennis club. She won the doubles and collected a nice pink trophy to add to her collection. It was her first time playing doubles and she really had a lot of fun with it. We have her playing doubles again in June, but this time she will be in the 14 and under class as my first born becomes a tween on May 16. Yikes
