A day in the life of Will

Will's life has changed just a bit in the last 4 mo. wouldn't you think? By the looks of the above pictures, he has it pretty good. Sometimes he comes up to me and says... stay with mom, no Africa. I reassure him he is not going anywhere. He is stuck with us! I think in his pictures he just needs a little juice with an umbrella in his hand and he is all set for the day!

bee stings

It never fails..........every summer Oscar gets stung by a bee above his eye because he bites at them and they come right back at him.... His eye swelled up pretty bad, so we gave him some benedryl and put him to bed. Poor Oscar..........I guess he is living up to his namesake.... Oscar Dayla Hoya..........not sure I spelled that right!!! Will was pretty concerned about his BIG EYE!

Have a good day

Yesterday Will was talking on the phone with Jeffrey and without prompting, at the end of his conversation Will said, "Have a good day" I thought that was pretty impressive. He picks up on so much.

Jeffrey spent part of his Father's Day out on the golf course, and then we went to my sister's pool for some pooltime. Jeffrey has been a father for more than 12 years now. I know God hand picked him as the father of our children and I could not be more thankful for the husband and father Jeffrey is to our children. I could not do what I do without him or be who I am without him. I have heard the question... What is the best thing a father can do for his children? The answer.... love their mother. I am blessed to have a husband who loves me so, as are our children. I still remember coming to Jeffrey with the idea of adoption and he was kind of skeptical at first, but over time and many prayers from me, his heart opened and he saw how much I felt it was what our family needed and it was just the right thing to do. Now, he is a father of 3, and I just smile so often at the love I see coming from his 2 girls and now his son. It is priceless to see Will running down the road when Jeffrey comes home from being out of town and jumping into his car and into his arms. He sure attached to Jeffrey with no problems! Happy Father's Day Jeffrey!

Our family of 6

Jeffrey and Jaymie arrived home safely from NC on Friday. We were glad to have them back. Will said " Daddy work all done?" quite often while they were gone. He does not like it when Jeffrey travels. He should be home for a few weeks now. While they were gone, Jacklyn, Will and I had fun as a threesome:) Jacklyn started and finished her photoshop class and learned how to do some pretty creative stuff. Will's vocabulary is growing every day. He was using a Q-tip to clean his ear the other morning and he took it out of his ear and said "Disgusting". I'm not quite sure where he picked that up, but you can be sure he picks up a lot and remembers it. He has finally grown to enjoy my reading books to him, which makes this mama's heart happy! On Monday he will have been home with us for 4mo. Adoption is a wonderful thing!

This guy can fly on his scooter. Even with no shoes. Actually, shoes are a hard thing to keep on this kid, so I've stopped trying!

Is he going to kill me someday for taking this picture?

Are there any words for the good lookin almost 3 year old?

The Sandhill Cranes have been stopping by our backyard often this year. Will will squat down on his knees and watch them in awe. He points at them and says "Big Birdy"

Weekend

School's out for the summer for my girls! My days will be filled driving Jacklyn to tennis and creating memorable moments with the kiddos. I hope to get Jaymie in a gymnastics class and Will in swimming lessons. I still have 2 more days of work to put in, so I am putting in some hours today (Sat) and then on Monday. My principal came in my room yesterday and told me my room in moving for next year. I have accumulated so much stuff and boy to I have the leveled books. They are all as organized as we can keep them so I hope they stay that way in the moving shuffle. So, today I will be packing boxes for our custodian to move me and the ladies i work with. Jeffrey will have child patol and be on his own for a few hours. I deserve a small break as he traveled to Maine this past week for work and then leaves for NC next week. He is taking Jaymie with him to NC to drop her off at my sisters while he does business in Raleigh. She has not seen her cousins since last Aug. so she is thrilled. Jacklyn will be taking a 1 week computer class learning photo shop. Students were hand picked by the art teacher for this class so she is thrilled to be learning the ins and outs of photoshop. So Jacklyn is right back at school on Monday in the computer lab keeping her brain active. I can't wait for her to teach it to me. Well, I'm off to my classroom! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

language

6 word sentence today..........."mom, I want a red balloon" and he's only been here 3 and a half months! Pretty amazing huh?

Will or Willamina?

I asked the girls to put Will in his PJ's on Sat night and he came down dressed like a "Willamina" They puffed up his hair and put in a headband and he had a girlie nightgown on. Jeffrey was not thrilled with this look, but they sure had a fun time running around playing with Will in his nightgown. Jacklyn and I went to the mall on Sunday with Will while Jaymie was at a birthday party. We probably got stopped about 8 times for people to tell us how beautiful he was.

We leave this am to the Waukesha County Courthouse to meet our social worker and the judge and have Will legally adopted here in WI. We will also find out if the judge approves his birthdate and name change. We've got Will dressed in some cute duds so the judge will approve all and let us keep him:) Stay tuned for pictures of OUR 15 MINUTES in COURT!
Yesterday I had a conversation with Will and we were talking about a Little Bill episode where there was a baby in the show. I asked Will if he loved babies and his reply was NO! I asked why and he said BECAUSE I love Jacklyn and Jaymie. Yes, he used the word BECAUSE. Isn't that amazing?

A Favorite

One of my most recent favorite photos of Will. We had a fire this weekend, and yes I was burning an old wicker table....Will is fascinated with fire just like his pyro mom. We also lit off some sparklers I had leftover from last 4thof July. The girls and Will had fun running around the yard with them. The concept of having no more sparkers to light was hard for Will to understand. He thought I should have an unlimited supply of them....

Also, after having the movie Slumdog Millionaire for 3 weeks (Netflix loves customers like me:) I finally watched it with Jeffrey... Very good movie if you havn't seen it! The housing compounds in the movie were very similar to what we saw in Ethiopia.
Will continues to amaze us with his vocabulary. Our neighbor Christy picked him up this weekend and told him he smelled so good, his reply was......."Im wearing cologne"
